Looking for a lawyer can be a daunting task.  Especially if your stressed over your legal situation and you’ve never had to use a lawyer before.  Depending on the situation, you may be reluctant to talk with friends or family for advice.  Legal services & solicitors can be found through numerous avenues. There are phone referrals in some city centers that  you can call and they will refer someone to you based on your particular specific situation.    Often some of these referrals will come with a free time period (usually an hour)  of consultation.  This can be helpful if your not sure you really need a lawyer, and get you started down the right path.

Another alternative is to internet.  There are a couple of options you could pursue on line.  One is just searching through a regular search engine.  But another like more focused approach, would be to use a  lawyers solicitors & attoney web directory .  This is like a specialized yellow pages listing of lawyers, but with more information, and all the advantages of being in an online format.  Meaning, you can search through the listings, save them off for later reference, or go directly to the website of a lawyer that looks interesting to you.  It’s always good to have choices, and be able to shop around for services.  That’s one of the best advantages of the internet.  You can even use specific lawyer and firm names in search engines to see if anyone else has posted information and experiences about using them in the past.
